  Since 1999, Nigeria has consistently celebrated Democracy Day to mark the end of military rule and the return of power and control into the hands of those freely elected by the people. On this day, Nigerians recommitted themselves to ensuring the protection and preservation of the concept of democracy within its territory. In 2018, Nigerians moved Democracy Day from the 29th of May to the 12th of June. Jatto Led KOGI-NEWMAP Beats Kano, Gombe, Delta, Sokoto, A/Ibom, Oyo & Plateau Kogi State has clinched  the first position at the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project, NEWMAP,  program, held on  Saturday 11th June 2022, in Abuja after  defeating Kano, Gombe, Delta, Sokoto, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, and Plateau States at the   2nd Tier NEWMAP States category. The Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project organized by the World Bank and the Federal Ministry of Environment had in participation over 23 States in the Implementation of Environmental and Safeguard Instruments.  The  World Bank assisted project aimed at addressing the Nigerian gully erosion crisis in Southeastern Nigeria and land degradation in Northern Nigeria on a multi-dimensional scale of which Kogi-NEWMAP  embaked on several projects in the state like gully reclamation, drainage, and road constructions and construction of Solar powered boreholes across its affected communities in the State.   The Kogi
